Kim Bloomberg and her team create high quality, handmade jewelry that represent and celebrate life’s beautiful moments—big, small and everything in between.
Creating and wearing jewelry has been in the fabric of human history for about as long as there’s been one—it has connected civilizations and cultures and is one of the oldest forms of self expression. When crafted with great care and quality materials, jewelry can be passed down from generation to generation: a tangible narrative that connects the past, the present and the future.
Kim Bloomberg Designs and the unique wearable art that they produce is a result of owner and designer Kim Bloomberg’s personal creative mission and journey, inspired by her own history and rooted in family tradition.
Dedication to Craftsmanship
Each piece of jewelry is designed by Kim Bloomberg and handmade in her Glencoe, IL studio. Kim can often be found in her studio counting tiny links of chain to ensure that each piece is carefully constructed with an “artful balance” in mind. Harmony between scale and color, vintage and modern yields truly timeless treasures that are unique, highly feminine expressions of wearable art.
Kim hand selects and designs the cut and color of each stone which result in superior quality craftsmanship. Each piece is slowly and meticulously crafted with wrapped wire and intricate chain work. Time stands still to produce quality, artful jewelry that will be enjoyed by generations to come.
About Kim & The Birth of Kim Bloomberg Designs
In addition to being the owner of an artisan studio, Kim Bloomberg is a wife, mother of two and an active member of her community. She is an extrovert with a weakness for silly jokes, a natural redhead and prefers the beach to the pool. She truly loves her work, craft and family.
Kim credits her early influencers with her knack for creative jewelry design—especially her grandmother, who took immense pride in her jewelry collection. “I remember marveling at the exquisiteness of each piece while she shared her triumphant personal history and the significant milestones her jewelry represented.” For Kim, creative expression has been a family affair and a source of inspiration.
Kim first explored jewelry making as a way to relax at the end of the day. One afternoon, strolling around her neighborhood with a double stroller, Kim was stopped by a local gallery owner. The owner stopped her to inquire about her unique earrings, and the next day he placed an order for 23 pieces. Kim Bloomberg Designs was born.
It Takes a Village
Every piece of Kim Bloomberg Designs jewelry is made to order in Glencoe, IL, an idyllic small town (less than 4 square miles!) on the west side of Lake Michigan - in Chicago’s North Shore. In addition to being a source of fun film facts and unique town history (read more here), the North Shore has a strong community of industrious women. Kim recognized the talent that she was surrounded by—especially after those early years of motherhood when many of the women that she knew were looking for new career opportunities, and ideally ones that afforded them the chance to greet their children at the bus stop at the end of the day. She saw a win-win opportunity and it is with this talent—strong, intelligent and resourceful women—that Kim Bloomberg Designs became the artisan studio that it is today.
